Open gardens in Flevoland: 4 large stunning private gardens

The pleasures of garden visiting in the Noordoostpolder

The Noordoostpolder is a part of the province Flevoland. In the midst of World War II it was drained, prepared and developed within a very short time. It is a very special area about 4 m below sea-level, with a rich history. It was reclaimed of the sea on 9 september 1942.

In this tranquil countryside 4 large stunning private gardens have opened their gates to the public, situated just a few miles apart. Visiting these gardens yields many pleasures. Each garden is unique and has been designed and created according to individual taste and vision.

In the past years thousands of gardenlovers enjoyed how man's ingenuity has assembled summer-houses, borders, lawns, paving, water and landform into these beautiful gardens. In Springtime an overwhelming number of bulbs in colourful companion with often rare plants, shrubs and trees, create a magical display.

In Summertime the many attractive colour-themed herbaceous borders with a wide range of plants make an enchanting walk.
